Save the Date! 17th Annual DTC Wine Symposium Slated For January 17-18, 2024

May 24, 2023The Direct to Consumer Wine Symposium (DTCWS), presented by and a fundraiser for Free the Grapes!, is celebrating its 17th year as the nation’s premier industry conference dedicated to winery DTC sales and marketing.

The symposium will be held January 17-18, 2024, and will once again include keynote speeches from industry leaders and thought leaders outside the industry, practical workshop sessions, town hall-type discussions, as well as a trade show featuring the industry’s top suppliers. The conference’s location will be announced soon.

The DTCWS is the primary fundraiser for Free the Grapes!, the national grassroots coalition of wine lovers and wineries seeking to remove DTC shipping bans and to streamline onerous restrictions in states that prevent consumers from purchasing wines directly from wineries.

Past symposia have attracted 400- 500 attendees, sponsors, and speakers for the two-day conference, which will be fully in-person in 2024. In addition, 93% of 2023 conference survey respondents recommend DTCWS to their colleagues and friends – specifically praising knowledgeable, well-rehearsed speakers and sessions that offer expert insights and solutions to common challenges.

“We are thrilled to offer this year’s conference fully in person,” said Brandon Allen, event chair and DTC Manager, Van Duzer Vineyards in Oregon.  “While we were fortunate to be able to offer content through a mix of virtual and in person sessions over the past few years, there is nothing like being in the same room with the leading DTC wine professionals.”

Information on sponsorship opportunities will be available on the Symposium website beginning this summer, and session topics and speakers will be finalized in fall.  For updates, subscribe to Free the Grapes! newsletter at and follow the DTC Wine Symposium on

Free the Grapes! works closely with industry lobbyists and regional associations to streamline onerous shipping regulations and to increase the number of legal states. Since the founding of Free the Grapes! by five industry associations, the number of legal states has grown from 17 to 47 and represent 98% of the US population. The coalition executes state-specific advocacy campaigns encouraging consumers to write to their legislators, and works with media and advocacy groups to generate press coverage in support of favorable legislation.
